Young Global Educators’ Organization, represented by the group’s chair Abad Enriquez, joined the 4th Asian Youth Forum (AYF4) held last August 10-12, 2016 at ADB headquarters in Manila in celebration of the UN International Youth Day. The forum’s theme, “Youth for Global Goals” is also the name of the initiative launched in partnership with AIESEC. The event aimed to enable youth to contribute to the new 2030 global agenda, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
More than 200 hundred young leaders from across Asia and the Pacific were invited to take part in the event. Plenary sessions, action sessions and interactive workshops offered ways on how youth can help in achieving SDGs.
YGEO fully supports the Youth for Global Goals initiative. In particular, we commit to advancing SDG 4: Quality Education by mobilizing our members to take action.
“Ambisyon Natin 2040”
National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) also hosted a youth forum at ADB headquarters a day before AYF 2016. The forum was attended by Filipino youth leaders from all over the country. “AmBisyon Natin 2040” represents the aspirations of the Filipino people for themselves and for the Philippines for the year 2040. The study revealed that Filipinos want a simple life for themselves for the next 25 years. Youth participants were encouraged to be aware of their roles to realize the country’s collective vision.
GEO believes that “AmBisyon Natin 2040” is an excellent springboard for new research. We invite our members and supporters to visit NEDA’s AmBisyon Natin 2040 website to learn more about the aspirations of Filipinos.
