The recent international educators’ conference (IEC) of the GEO-Global Educators Professional Enhancement International Inc. in partnership with STI West Negros University was a resounding success, with participants evaluating the event as excellent. The conference, held from February 22-24, 2023, brought together educators to discuss the most pressing issues facing education today, with the theme “Education for the 21st Century and Beyond – Confronting Educational Challenges and Meeting Global Demands.” The conference featured keynote speakers who were experts in their fields, including Prof Marc Helgesen, Coach Randy Esguerra, and Dr. Alvin Sical. The conference provided a platform for educators to share their experiences, research findings, and best practices. From inclusive teaching methods especially the Science of Happiness and the Integration of Positive Psychology in the Classroom dynamics to leveraging technology for enhanced learning experiences, over 300 participants (onsite and online) engaged in enriching discussions that challenged traditional teaching norms and encouraged a forward-thinking approach to education.
Prof Marc Helgesen from Japan delivered the plenary topic “The Science of Happiness – in your class.” Prof. Helgesen also gave a presentation on “This is your brain on happiness: a chemical story,” exploring the neurochemistry of happiness and how it relates to education.
Coach Randy Esguerra discussed “Managing Mental Health Issues of The Times – The Educator as Life Coach, Mentor, and Counselor,” emphasizing the crucial role of educators in supporting students’ mental health in the face of unprecedented challenges.
Dr. Alvin Sicat presented “Brain-Friendly Teaching Approaches and Strategies in the Post-Pandemic Era,” providing insights on how teachers can adopt brain-friendly teaching methods to help students learn better in the new normal.
The conference also included workshops and paper presentations, providing opportunities for attendees to share their experiences, insights, and best practices in teaching and learning. Participants found the workshops particularly valuable, offering hands-on experience in various areas of education, such as teaching with technology, curriculum development, and classroom management.
The conference was evaluated as EXCELLENT by the participants, who praised the quality of the keynote speeches, the workshops, and the paper presentations. They also found the conference to be well-organized, with ample opportunities for networking and collaboration.
The partnership between GEO-Global Educators Professional Enhancement International Inc. and STI West Negros University was a perfect example of collaboration and dedication to the advancement of education.
